Akor Adams Ready to Embrace New Challenges at Venezia

Super Eagles striker Akor Adams has pledged to embrace any task Venezia ask of him as he begins a new chapter in Italy, insisting his departure from Sevilla is about expanding his abilities rather than merely joining another club.

Venezia investment in Adams

Venezia secured the 26-year-old on a permanent basis in July, handing him a deal that will remain in place until 30 June 2030.

  • The guaranteed transfer payment was reported to be slightly above €16 million.
  • Performance-related clauses could raise the overall package to €23 million.
  • Sevilla had paid roughly €5 million to sign Adams from Montpellier in January 2025.
  • The Spanish club therefore generated a substantial return on their investment.

Challenge at the bottom of Serie A

Adams joins Venezia during a demanding period for the promoted club. They are currently last in Serie A after taking only three points from their opening seven fixtures, with their sole victory accounting for all of those points.

He is likely to spearhead the frontline with Albion Rrahmani, but Adams has stressed that his responsibility will extend well beyond finishing chances. The Nigeria international is prepared to contribute in defence and attack alike.

From Sevilla recovery to Nigeria recognition

His spell in Spain was initially disrupted by fitness problems, which delayed his impact after joining Sevilla. However, Adams rediscovered his rhythm last season, with his finishing and aggressive pressing playing a role in Sevilla’s successful fight to remain in LaLiga.

  • Adams has won about 15 senior international caps for Nigeria.
  • He has scored six goals for the Super Eagles.
  • He was included in Nigeria’s squad that claimed bronze at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ready for every instruction

Adams spoke modestly about his prospects and said he is relying on Venezia’s coaching staff to help him improve.

“I still have plenty to learn and a great deal of potential to develop,” he said. “I believe the coach is here to support me in everything I require.”

He added: “Whether the coach needs defensive work or attacking work, running or duels, that is what I must do for the team.”

That readiness to handle less celebrated duties — including pressing opponents, recovering into defensive positions and competing physically — could be vital for a side seeking an upturn in results. It also underlines that Adams views his contribution as more than simply scoring.

At the time of his arrival, Adams pointed to Venezia’s “extraordinary project” and the enthusiasm of the club’s fans as major reasons for choosing the move. He now sees it as a step in a wider personal progression.

“There is no ceiling on my development,” Adams said. “Venezia is a project that allows me to discover different elements of my game, and that is my focus.”

For the forward, the immediate priorities are improvement, versatility and helping Venezia move clear of the Serie A relegation places.
