SPAIN star Nico Williams has disclosed that he turned down an opportunity to join Arsenal.
The winger was on the Gunners’ radar in 2024 and was also being monitored by Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
A year later, the World Cup champion made a commitment to his childhood club Athletic Bilbao by signing a 10-YEAR contract.
Williams expressed, “I have never wavered in my decision to stay here. I’ve received numerous offers and had the option to leave, but I was resolute about remaining.”
“My desire to be here is beyond doubt. I told Barcelona, Arsenal, PSG, and several others ‘no’ because my intention is to stay here.”
Williams clarified his reasons for signing a new deal after comments from his agent, Felix Tainta, surfaced last week.

His agent suggested that Williams was contemplating an offer from Barcelona but ultimately declined it, fearing he might not get enough playing time.
Williams clarified that this was never a concern and believes that his decade-long contract indicates his dedication to Athletic Bilbao.
Arsenal was keen on acquiring the Spanish forward two years ago following his impressive performance at Euro 2024.
The club continued to consider him the subsequent year, but Williams opted to extend his contract then.
