Asante Kotoko consider reunion with Imoro Ibrahim as club eyes defensive reinforcement

Asante Kotoko are reportedly considering a move to bring back former left-back Imoro Ibrahim as the Porcupine Warriors explore options to strengthen their squad ahead of upcoming competitions.

The Ghanaian defender, who currently features for Tanzanian outfit Singida Black Stars, has emerged as a potential transfer target for his former employers, with his reported contract situation at the club believed to have attracted interest from the Kumasi-based side.

Imoro joined Kotoko in December 2019 and spent three seasons at the club, establishing himself as one of the team’s influential defensive figures. His attacking contributions and consistency at the back made him an important member of the squad during his time in Kumasi.

The left-back played a significant role in Kotoko’s successful 2021/22 Ghana Premier League campaign, making 28 league appearances and providing eight assists as the club secured the league title.

His impressive performances during that season further enhanced his reputation as one of the most creative defenders in the domestic league, particularly for his ability to support attacking moves and deliver dangerous crosses from the left flank.

Imoro made more than 50 league appearances for the Porcupine Warriors before departing in August 2022 to join Sudanese giants Al-Hilal Omdurman.

His exit came after a successful spell in Kumasi, where he helped Kotoko end their eight-year wait for the Ghana Premier League title.

However, his stay in Sudan was later affected by the conflict in the country, forcing him to move on in 2024 before securing a new opportunity in Tanzania with Singida Black Stars.

A possible return to Kotoko could provide the club with an experienced defender who understands the demands of playing for the Porcupine Warriors and has already demonstrated his quality in the Ghana Premier League.

His familiarity with the club’s environment, coupled with his previous contributions, could make him an attractive option as Kotoko assess their defensive recruitment plans.

Although discussions over a possible reunion are reportedly being considered, no official agreement or confirmation of a transfer has been announced.
