Solbat Golfo Piombino defeated Consultinvest Loreto Pesaro 75–64 in a Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro fixture, breaking their recent losing streak on a night defined by physical defense and a decisive fourth-quarter surge.
The hosts faced an immediate setback when Tommaso Gatto left the floor with an injury just 30 seconds into the contest. Loreto Pesaro capitalized on early foul trouble, sinking four quick trips to the free-throw line during a 10–0 run that built an eight-point advantage. Piombino struggled offensively, converting just 3 of 14 shots from the field in the opening quarter before trimming the deficit to 18–13 through free throws from Davide Meluzzi and Marco Menconi.
Piombino found more success shooting the ball in the second period, erasing a seven-point gap behind a basket from Gabriele Ferraresi and a three-pointer by Edoardo Pedroni. Although defensive lapses initially allowed Loreto to reclaim a seven-point edge, Piombino tightened its backline after the 23-minute mark. Meluzzi, Nik Raivio, and Fatih Mehmedoviq orchestrated an offensive turnaround that pushed the hosts ahead 39–36 by halftime.
Piombino extended its lead to seven points early in the third quarter following a jumper from Raivio. Loreto fought back to level the score when former Piombino player Federico Tognacci converted a three-pointer, though Menconi answered immediately to restore a cushion heading into the final stanza.
As fatigue set in, Piombino’s experience and depth surfaced. Menconi hit several key baskets down the stretch, while Meluzzi secured the outcome with a triple that stretched the lead to 10 points with three minutes remaining on the game clock. David Cornis responded for Loreto with a score to cut the margin to eight, but Menconi answered again to seal the 75–64 final score.
Solbat Golfo Piombino finished the night shooting 20 of 24 from the free-throw line and pulling down 36 total rebounds, led by Meluzzi with eight boards. Consultinvest Loreto Pesaro shot 23 of 30 on free throws and matched Piombino with 36 rebounds, paced by Giovanni Sablich with eight.
Following this 75–64 victory, Solbat Golfo Piombino prepares to face a challenging away fixture against Chiusi in the Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro schedule.
