HIGHLANDERS FC booked their place in the 2026 Chibuku Super Cup final after overcoming CAPS United 3-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
Bosso held their nerve in the penalty shootout to eliminate Makepekepe and move a step closer to lifting the Chibuku Super Cup for the second time in their history.
Their first trophy came in 2019 when they beat Ngezi Platinum Stars 1-0 at Barbourfields in Bulawayo.
The victory came as a huge relief for coach Benjani Mwaruwari, whose side had suffered back-to-back league defeats against CAPS United this season.
In Sunday’s encounter, the two sides played out a goalless first half before Davison Marowa broke the deadlock in the 67th minute to give CAPS United the lead.
Highlanders, however, responded through Reason Sibanda, who scored in the 82nd minute to level matters and force the match into a penalty shootout.
Goalkeeper Reason Sibanda proved instrumental in the shootout, saving two penalties as Highlanders converted all three of their spot kicks to seal victory.
Bosso will now face Hardrock FC in the final, which is scheduled for November 28 at Chahwanda Stadium in Kwekwe.
The highly anticipated showdown is set to become the first domestic football match in Zimbabwe to be played with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system.
