Russo played every minute of every match in October, and started by scoring our second goal of the game to put us 2-1 up away to Manchester City, smashing the ball past Ayaka Yamashita from the edge of the area.
In the north London derby, she assisted Georgia Stanway’s equalising goal with a clever reverse pass in our 2-1 win away to Tottenham Hotspur, before scoring the winning goal from the penalty spot.
She then scored a hat-trick in our 3-0 win at home to Benfica to become the English leading goalscorer in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
After playing 67 minutes of our 4-2 loss at City, Stanway got 90 minutes under her belt in the 1-1 draw with Birmingham City, in which she provided the assist for Olivia Smith’s equaliser.
Stanway also smashed in the equaliser in our 2-1 north London derby win at Spurs, and played 90 minutes of our 3-0 win over Benfica.
Foord came on at half-time in our 4-2 loss at City, and won the ball in a dangerous area to force the opening for Russo’s goal.
She then came on in the 85th minute of our 1-1 draw at home to Birmingham, before playing 90 minutes of our 2-1 win at Spurs and winning Player of the Match.
Foord got another 90 minutes in our 3-0 win over Benfica, getting an assist for Russo’s opening goal.
Smith came on in the 67th minute of our 4-2 loss at City, before playing 90 minutes of our 1-1 draw at home to Birmingham, scoring our equalising goal with a rocket into the top right from distance.
She also played 87 minutes of our 2-1 win at Spurs and 86 minutes of our 3-0 win over Benfica, and has demonstrated her versatility by playing multiple positions in the attack.
