Total Football Academy (TFA) has received national recognition for its contribution to football development after winning the Excellence in Football Development & Sports Training Award at the 2026 Munhumutapa Exhibition Awards held at Rainbow Towers in Harare on Saturday.
The award recognises the academy’s commitment to nurturing young football talent, providing structured training and creating pathways for aspiring players to pursue professional careers.
Established in 2011, TFA has spent 15 years developing young footballers in Zimbabwe through structured programmes catering for various age groups, from junior football to Under-21 level.
The academy is registered with the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) and competes in the Probhora League.
Speaking after receiving the award, TFA Executive Director Tatenda Madzingo said the recognition was a source of encouragement for the academy and everyone who had contributed to its journey.
“We are humbled to be recognised through this prestigious award. It has been 15 years of hard work, sacrifice, passion and determination to develop young footballers and create opportunities for them to realise their potential,” said Madzingo.
“This award motivates us to work even harder and remain committed to creating platforms where players can develop their abilities, showcase their talent and pursue opportunities in professional football. We believe that talented young players deserve opportunities to be seen, and we will continue working towards making that possible.”
Madzingo also called on the corporate world to partner with the academy in its efforts to develop football talent and create sustainable opportunities for young people.
“We invite the corporate world to join us in this journey. Football academies require resources, infrastructure and partnerships to provide quality training and meaningful opportunities for players. With the right support, we can do much more for the development of football and the empowerment of young people in Zimbabwe,” he said.
He expressed appreciation to LA Guard Insurance and Chicken House for supporting the academy, acknowledging the important role corporate partnerships play in sustaining youth football initiatives.
Beyond its regular training programmes, TFA has been creating opportunities for players to compete, develop and attract the attention of international scouts, agents and football institutions.
In July, the academy hosted international football representatives for a scouting showcase in Harare, giving emerging players an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities. Several players were shortlisted, highlighting the potential of Zimbabwean talent when given access to international football networks.
The academy has also organised youth tournaments, including the Under-11 Future Stars Cup, and participates in the Under-21 Probhora League as part of its commitment to structured player development.
TFA is preparing to host Droom Soccer trials on Saturday, 7 November 2026, in partnership with the international football agency. The trials will give eligible players an opportunity to showcase their abilities, with successful candidates standing a chance of progressing to trials in the United Kingdom.
The academy will also host The Bridge Cup 2026, an Under-21 football tournament scheduled for Saturday, 19 December, at Churchill High School in Harare. The tournament aims to bridge the gap between academy football and the professional game by providing a competitive platform for young players to showcase their talent.
The Munhumutapa award marks an important milestone in TFA’s 15-year journey, providing renewed motivation for its management, coaches and players to continue pursuing excellence.
