Edo Queens Football Club has accepted the decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that the outstanding extra time of the WAFU-B final match against Ampem FC of Ghana be played on October 29, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt.

The position of the club’s management was made known on Thursday in a statement signed by the Media Manager Ehiosun Ogieva.

In the statement, the club said the outcome of the appeal was not what it had hoped for,but that after consultations with its Board, the Edo State Government and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), it decided to obey the directives of CAF to complete the match in the interest of sporting fairness and so the contest can be settled on the pitch. The team will depart for Cairo on Monday, October 26.

The club thanked the Edo State Government and the NFF for their support, guidance and representation throughout the appeal process.

“Our mission remains unchanged: to fight, to win and to secure our place in the CAF Women’s Champions League,” the club said. The tournament is scheduled to begin in Cairo on November 1, 2026.

Acknowledging the disappointment among supporters, the club said it shares their determination to see the matter decided on the pitch. “We have chosen to move forward with courage, discipline and resilience,” it added.
Edo Queens also expressed gratitude to its fans and the media for their support during the appeal period, and called on supporters to keep backing the team ahead of the decisive match.”

The statement added that the players and technical crew are focused and ready to represent Edo State and Nigeria with pride.

Recall that Edo Queens defeated Ampem FC of Ghana 4-1 via penalty shootouts after the WAFU B final match in Burkina Faso had ended 2-2 in the 90-minute regulation period and were declared winners on September 5, 2026, only for the Ghanaians to file a protest against the direct penalty shootout, demanding that extra time of 30 minutes should have been played before penalties in accordance with the rules of the game. The disciplinary and appeal board of CAF later heared the case and ruled in their favour.
