Former Sports Minister Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye has accused the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of focusing too much on the Black Stars at the expense of domestic football development.
Speaking on Akoma FM, Vanderpuye questioned the priorities of the current GFA administration, arguing that its attention to the senior national team was affecting the growth of local clubs.
“The current football association is the Ghana Black Stars association and not the Ghana Football Association,” he said.
The former minister also expressed concern about the future of Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, warning that both clubs could struggle to win the Ghana Premier League over the next five years if the current situation continues.
“The current football system is affecting clubs like Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak. If we fail to address these issues, there is no way these two clubs will win the league in the next five years,” he added.
