VfL Wolfsburg beats Hoffenheim 8-0 in DFB-Pokal

The Frauen des VfL Wolfsburg secured an 8-0 victory over TSG Hoffenheim in the DFB-Pokal der Frauen round of 16 on Monday evening, Nov. 2, 2026, at the AOK Stadion in Wolfsburg, advancing comfortably to the quarterfinals.

Wolfsburg Secures Comprehensive Cup Victory Over Hoffenheim

The “Wölfinnen” established control early in the DFB-Pokal Achtelfinale, establishing a 5-0 lead before halftime and maintaining their advantage through the second half. Unlike their 2-1 Bundesliga defeat against the same opponent in Sinsheim back in September 2026, coach Stephan Lerch’s side approached the fixture with high efficiency from the opening whistle, ndr.de reported.

Lieske Carleer opened the scoring in the second minute with a header from a corner kick on the right side. Cora Zicai added a second in the 11th minute, directing a flying header past the Hoffenheim defense following a cross from Lara Prasnikar. Captain Janina Minge scored the third in the 22nd minute, also via a header from a right-sided corner. Prasnikar added a fourth with her foot in the 25th minute before Zicai completed her first-half brace in the 41st minute with a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner.

Second-Half Goals Extend the Margin in Wolfsburg

Following the interval, Wolfsburg managed the tempo of the match while continuing to create scoring opportunities. Lena Lattwein added two more headers in the 63rd and 75th minutes, both originating from set-piece situations and high pressing recoveries. Substitute Cecilie Floe Nielsen concluded the scoring in the 85th minute with a shot into the bottom right corner, sealing the final 8-0 margin.

Hoffenheim struggled to generate sustained attacking pressure throughout the ninety minutes, managing only occasional entries into the penalty area, such as a right-sided advance by Svenja Fölmli in the second half, sportschau.de reported. The defeat eliminates Hoffenheim from the competition following their first-round victory over Regionalliga side Greuther Fürth.

Squad Rotations and Upcoming Fixtures

Both coaching staffs utilized substitutions to manage player loads ahead of upcoming league fixtures. Wolfsburg made tactical changes after the break, introducing Smilla Kleinherne, Cecilie Floe, Kessya Bussy, and Smilla Vallotto. Hoffenheim deployed players including Lisa Lichtfus, Lisann Kaut, and Linda Natter in their starting lineup under coach Eva-Maria Virsinger.

Wolfsburg returns to Frauen-Bundesliga action on Friday, Nov. 6, 2026, with an away fixture against third-placed Eintracht Frankfurt.
