According to a report by GOAL on Saturday October 31, 2026, Coventry City striker Ellis Simms is closing in on a potential international switch from England to Poland after securing Polish citizenship through his grandmother.
The 25-year-old, who was born in Oldham, has had his citizenship application approved and is now completing the final paperwork required to obtain his Polish passport.
According to GOAL, Simms previously attended England Under-18 and Under-20 camps but has never made a senior appearance for the Three Lions, leaving him eligible to represent Poland.
Poland manager Jan Urban has confirmed that the national team are interested in the Coventry forward as they look to strengthen their attacking options.
The country's search for fresh talent comes as captain Robert Lewandowski approaches the latter stages of his career.
Urban, who is expected to announce his squad next Friday, said the striker must first complete the necessary documentation before being considered for selection.
"First, the paperwork: the passport and all the formalities. Only then will he be considered," the Poland manager said.
Simms helped Coventry secure promotion to the Premier League last season, scoring 13 goals in the Championship. However, he has started only one of the club's opening eight league matches this campaign.
The forward recently scored in Coventry's 4-1 victory over Newcastle and could now have the opportunity to make his senior international debut for Poland during the November Nations League fixtures against Romania and Sweden.
