According to a report by London Evening Standard on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Arsenal's incoming signing Andria Bartishvili has reportedly picked up an ankle injury while featuring for Georgian side Iberia 1999.
The 17-year-old attacker was seen receiving assistance from medical personnel as he was helped off the pitch, raising concerns about his fitness ahead of his anticipated arrival in north London in July 2027.
Videos circulating on social media showed Bartishvili struggling to continue playing before medical staff came to his aid. He was wearing Iberia 1999's red jersey when the incident happened. However, neither Arsenal nor his current club has provided an official update confirming the seriousness of the injury.
Bartishvili is currently spending time on loan at Iberia 1999 after joining from Kolkheti 1913. Arsenal announced in September that they had reached a pre-contract agreement to secure his services. The transfer is expected to be finalised in July 2027, subject to regulatory approval, when the youngster turns 18.
The Georgian teenager is a versatile attacking player capable of featuring on either wing or in the attacking midfield position. He came through the Dinamo Tbilisi academy before making his breakthrough into senior football.
His impressive performances during his breakthrough season earned him recognition as the Erovnuli Liga's best under-17 player.
He also registered his first professional goal for Iberia earlier this year, while continuing to make progress at international level. Bartishvili has represented Georgia in several youth competitions, including appearances for the under-21 national team.
Arsenal's recruitment team, which includes Maurizio Micheli, was instrumental in securing his signature despite interest from other clubs. The youngster's playing style has also attracted comparisons with fellow Georgian international Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Meanwhile, Bartishvili has gained important experience in European football this season, representing Iberia during their qualifying matches and Conference League campaign.
However, the latest injury could affect his development and limit his chances of gaining further competitive experience before completing his move to Arsenal.
Arsenal supporters will now be waiting for an official update on the teenager's condition, the seriousness of the ankle problem and how long he is expected to remain unavailable.
