Arsenal Approve Martin Odegaard Sale to Bayern Munich in 2027 on One Condition

According to a report by Football London on Friday October 30, 2026, Arsenal could consider selling captain Martin Odegaard in 2027 if negotiations over a new contract fail, with Bayern Munich reportedly interested in signing the Norwegian midfielder.

Odegaard remains Arsenal’s influential captain and creative force, rediscovering his excellent form this season. He has scored four goals, securing his advanced midfield position despite competition from Eberechi Eze for regular starting opportunities.

The Norwegian international’s current contract at the Emirates Stadium expires in the summer of 2028, leaving Arsenal determined to resolve his future before entering the agreement’s final year.

Reports previously indicated that Arsenal intend to offer improved contracts to Odegaard, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber, with negotiations already underway to secure their long-term commitments to the club.

Discussions between Arsenal and Odegaard’s representatives have reportedly progressed positively, strengthening expectations that both parties will eventually reach an agreement extending his stay in north London beyond his existing contract.

However, fresh information from Sky Germany suggests Arsenal are prepared to consider alternative options if negotiations stall, rather than risk losing their influential midfielder without receiving a transfer fee.

According to the report, Arsenal could sanction Odegaard’s departure during the summer of 2027 if contractual discussions remain unsuccessful, leaving twelve months on his existing agreement at that stage.

The Gunners reportedly want to prevent their captain from approaching the final year of his contract, potentially allowing him to leave as a free agent when his agreement expires in 2028.

Bayern Munich have emerged as a possible destination, with reports suggesting contact between the German champions and Odegaard’s representatives has continued over several years, keeping the transfer possibility alive.

The midfielder could reportedly imagine representing Bayern in the future, although Vincent Kompany’s team do not currently consider him a priority recruitment target, according to the latest information.

Nevertheless, Arsenal’s immediate preference remains reaching a new agreement with their captain. Both parties are expected to continue negotiations, hoping to secure his future and avoid an unwanted departure next summer.
