Barcelona are reportedly facing growing interest from the Premier League in teenage prospect Ebrima Tunkara, with Aston Villa and Everton monitoring the youngster’s development ahead of a possible move.
According to a report by Barca Universal on Saturday, November 7, 2026, the Catalan giants have no intention of allowing the highly rated midfielder to leave, despite the increasing attention from English clubs.
The 16-year-old attacking midfielder is regarded as one of the brightest prospects emerging from Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy, with his performances attracting interest from several teams in England.
According to Mundo Deportivo, intermediaries who regularly visit Barcelona’s Ciutat Esportiva training complex have provided positive assessments of Tunkara’s development. Their reports have reportedly contributed to the growing interest, with Aston Villa and Everton emerging as the leading admirers.
Aston Villa have already had an opportunity to evaluate the teenager’s abilities during a UEFA Youth League encounter earlier this week. Tunkara scored in an entertaining 3-3 draw between Barcelona’s Juvenil A side and the English club.
There have also reportedly been attempts to convince the youngster to continue his development in England. However, Barcelona remain confident about retaining his services.
The Spanish champions recently strengthened their position by extending Tunkara’s contract until 2029. The player is also understood to be happy at the club and has shown no intention of pursuing a move away.
Born in Gambia, Tunkara joined Barcelona’s youth academy during the 2018/19 season and has steadily developed into one of the club’s most exciting young talents.
He made his Barcelona Atletic debut in February this year at just 15 years old and has continued his progress under coach Juliano Belletti.
His impressive performances also earned him an opportunity to train with Hansi Flick’s first team during pre-season last summer.
Furthermore, following Dani Olmo’s injury, Tunkara has reportedly been involved in regular training sessions with the senior squad.
Barcelona view the teenager as an important part of their long-term plans and are therefore determined to protect his development rather than allow interested Premier League clubs to lure him away.
