According to a report by Meteo on Saturday October 31, 2026, Cole Palmer has identified Romeo Lavia as Chelsea’s outstanding performer following their convincing 2-0 Premier League victory against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, praising the midfielder’s impressive contribution throughout Saturday’s contest.
Chelsea struggled to break United down during the opening half, but Morgan Rogers eventually broke the deadlock before Palmer converted a penalty to secure victory and strengthen the hosts’ performance.
Manchester United also suffered a significant setback when Lisandro Martinez received punishment following VAR intervention for striking Wesley Fofana with his forearm, leaving the visitors playing with ten men.
Lavia delivered an outstanding display alongside Moises Caicedo, controlling midfield, connecting defensive and attacking phases effectively, and demonstrating the quality that has frequently been overshadowed by his persistent injury difficulties since joining Chelsea.
Palmer believes supporters have yet to appreciate the midfielder’s abilities fully, insisting his performance against United demonstrated precisely why he considers the 22-year-old among his favourite players in the position.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Palmer said: “Today was one of the best games I’ve seen him play.” He also highlighted Lavia’s quality and expressed admiration for his teammate’s midfield performances.
The England international added: “People still don’t realise how good he is.” Palmer acknowledged Lavia’s injury struggles but expressed optimism that he could leave those problems behind and consistently produce exceptional displays.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso similarly praised Lavia, describing his contribution as an exceptional midfield performance. The Spaniard highlighted his intelligent decisions, dynamism, competitiveness, and ability to connect defenders with attacking teammates effectively.
Alonso explained that Lavia had maintained impressive form over recent weeks, adding that his latest performance deserved significant recognition. The manager expressed happiness with the midfielder’s progress and contribution to Chelsea’s success.
Palmer also praised teenage winger Estevao, who made his first Premier League start for Chelsea this season. The forward explained that he deliberately supplied the youngster with possession to demonstrate his attacking abilities.
Palmer said Estevao had remained patient while waiting for opportunities and performed impressively when selected. Alonso also applauded the teenager’s response after being overlooked during Chelsea’s Carabao Cup penalty-shootout defeat against Liverpool.
Alonso revealed that Estevao had been informed beforehand about his selection and responded positively, showing determination, confidence, and commitment. The manager believes the youngster deserves additional opportunities following his encouraging performance against Manchester United.
