According to a report by BBC Sport on Friday, October 23, 2026, in their LaLiga match at the Estadio Mendizorroza, Malaga held Deportivo Alaves to a 1-1 draw.
Both sides entered the match with high hopes for a win, but Malaga took the lead after a tightly contested first half in which they created several scoring opportunities despite starting the game with less possession.
In the 44th minute, just before halftime, Malaga took the lead thanks to an assist from Ramon Enriquez, who found Adrian Nino, who scored with his left foot. Alaves will have a tough time adjusting to the second half after the video assistant referee first reviewed the goal before allowing it to stand.
As Malaga sought to defend their lead and expand it through counterattacks, Alaves came out of halftime intent on getting back into the game, making substitutions and pressing forward in pursuit of an equalizer.
In the 81st minute, the visitors nearly extended their lead when Lucas Boye hit the post; the home team kept pressing, and Boye's missed opportunity cost them.
After a frustrating match, Alaves were rewarded in the 89th minute through a left-footed shot from Aitor Manas, who reacted swiftly to a loose ball. The referee and video assistant referee both agreed that the goal would stand, providing the home team with a last-ditch chance to win.
Despite six minutes of additional time, neither team was able to score a goal before the game ended.
Malaga dropped to last place in LaLiga with five points after sharing the spoils, while Deportivo Alaves climbed to seventh place with twelve points despite the loss.
