Chelsea youngster Genesis Antwi has received his first senior international call-up after impressing on loan at Strasbourg, with former Blues manager Graham Potter handing the defender an opportunity to represent Sweden.
According to a report by The Athletic on Friday, 6 November 2026, the 19-year-old right-back has been included in Sweden's squad for the November international break following his impressive performances in France.
Antwi has developed into an important player at Strasbourg since joining the Ligue 1 club on loan from Chelsea during the summer.
He has started eight consecutive league matches, attracting the attention of Potter, who is now in charge of the Swedish national team.
The defender's progress represents another positive development for Chelsea's loan system, with fellow Blues players Dario Essugo and Filip Jorgensen also featuring at Strasbourg this season.
Antwi joined Chelsea's academy at the age of 11 and progressed through the club's youth ranks at Cobham. He made his senior debut in March 2025, featuring in the Conference League fixture against Copenhagen.
His performances for Chelsea's Under-21 side during the 2025/26 campaign helped secure his temporary move to France, where he has continued developing his game.
Sweden are scheduled to face Bosnia and Herzegovina and Poland during the upcoming Nations League fixtures, giving Antwi an opportunity to make his senior international debut.
His international allegiance is also significant. Having previously represented England at under-16 level and Sweden at under-17, under-19 and under-21 levels, the defender has now committed to Sweden.
Both of Antwi's parents are from Ghana, meaning he was also eligible to represent the West African country before his decision.
If he makes his senior debut for Sweden, he will no longer be eligible to switch his international allegiance to England or Ghana under FIFA's eligibility regulations.
Antwi could also become only the second Chelsea player to represent Sweden. Former goalkeeper Magnus Hedman earned 58 international caps, although he never made a first-team appearance during his brief spell at Stamford Bridge.
The call-up marks an important milestone in Antwi's career and offers another indication of his growing reputation as he continues his development away from Stamford Bridge.
