According to a report by BBC Sport on November 1, 2026, Real Madrid have moved closer to Barcelona in the La Liga title race after securing a convincing 3-0 victory over Racing Santander away from home.
Barcelona remain at the top of the standings with 30 points from 11 matches following their emphatic 6-1 win over Deportivo Alaves. The victory helped Hansi Flick's side maintain their position at the summit after recently suffering defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Atletico Madrid occupy second place with 28 points after recording a 2-0 victory over Levante, while Real Madrid have climbed to 27 points following their latest triumph. The result leaves Jose Mourinho's side just three points behind their rivals Barcelona and one point adrift of Atletico.
Madrid's victory over Racing was secured through goals from Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Yann Diomande, giving the visitors another important three points as they continue their pursuit of the league leaders.
Barcelona's position at the top is therefore under increasing pressure, with both Madrid clubs maintaining strong challenges for the title. Atletico's consistency has also made the competition for the top position more intense.
With the season still having several matches to go, the gap between the leading three sides remains relatively small. Real Madrid will now hope to maintain their winning momentum, while Barcelona must continue collecting points to protect their advantage at the top of the table.
