According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, October 24, 2026, Como secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Sassuolo in their Serie A clash at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.
Como started the game with the intention of taking control, as they enjoyed more possession and created several chances to trouble the visitors, but Sassuolo remained organised at the back and worked hard to prevent the hosts from finding an early breakthrough.
Douvikas came close to opening the scoring during the first half, while Maxence Caqueret also tested the opposition goalkeeper as Como continued to push forward, although neither side managed to find the back of the net before the interval.
The home team returned for the second half with more urgency and finally took the lead in the 49th minute when Caqueret provided the assist for Douvikas, who finished from close range after Como found space in the visitors' defence.
The goal gave Fabregas' players more confidence, and they continued to put Sassuolo under pressure as they looked to increase their advantage rather than allow their opponents to get back into the contest.
Their efforts paid off in the 60th minute when Douvikas completed his brace, this time converting a cross from Kaiki to make it 2-0 and put Como in a comfortable position with half an hour remaining.
Sassuolo tried to respond, but Como defended well and limited their opponents' clear opportunities, while the hosts continued to threaten whenever they moved forward.
The victory sees Fabregas' Como climb into fourth position on the Serie A table with 17 points, strengthening their push for a place in next season's Champions League, while Sassuolo dropped to 14th position with eight points following their defeat.
