Chelsea’s Under-19 side have been eliminated from the UEFA Youth League after suffering a 3-2 home defeat to Estonian club Flora Tallinn at Cobham on Wednesday.
According to a report by The Chelsea Chronicle on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, the Blues twice took the lead but failed to hold on, bringing their European campaign to an early end.
Mathis Eboue opened the scoring before Flora equalised through Sander Alamaa following a defensive mistake.
Ibrahim Rabbaj restored Chelsea’s advantage shortly after coming on at half-time, converting an assist from Eboue less than two minutes into the second period.
However, the visitors responded again, with Marten Kukkonen scoring after Chelsea failed to deal with a throw-in.
Flora completed their comeback when Alamaa converted a penalty after Chelsea captain Tayo Subuloye fouled Denis Zotov inside the box.
The goal completed Alamaa’s hat-trick and secured a memorable victory for the Estonian side.
The defeat came despite the presence of several players with first-team experience. Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli and Reggie Watson both started, while Subuloye featured after recently training with Xabi Alonso’s senior squad.
Alonso, Cole Palmer and former Chelsea captain John Terry were also reportedly in attendance to watch the academy prospects.
Chelsea entered the competition with expectations of progressing further, having won the Under-18 Premier League title last season. The club are also two-time UEFA Youth League winners.
Their early elimination represents a setback for the academy, particularly with several promising youngsters already attracting attention from the senior coaching staff.
For Flora Tallinn, the 3-2 victory represents a significant achievement, while Chelsea must now turn their attention to domestic youth competitions.
