Chelsea Make January Call on Estevão After His Manchester United Masterclass

According to a report by The Chelsea Chronicle on Monday November 2, 2026, Chelsea supporters had been waiting to see Estevão get a Premier League start and he made the most of his opportunity.

The Brazilian winger was a constant threat during Saturday’s win over Manchester United, troubling Diogo Dalot from the right and twice finding the net, only for both goals to be ruled out for offside.

The first decision appeared clear, while the second proved far tighter. VAR reportedly showed Estevão marginally beyond the last defender when he fired a superb effort into the top corner.

Before the match, Estevão’s limited playing time had prompted speculation about his future.

He has reportedly been frustrated by being asked to play in unfamiliar positions, and Jamie O’Hara recently suggested he should consider leaving after he was left out against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.

However, a January departure is now said to be off the table. Spanish newspaper AS reports that Chelsea are considering a significant pay rise for the former Palmeiras star, recognising his patience and potential.

With João Pedro unavailable, Chelsea reshaped their attack for the United match. Pedro Neto moved through the forward line, while Estevão began on the right, where he looked most comfortable and dangerous.

Estevão was substituted in the 87th minute, despite appearing capable of playing on. With the result effectively secured, Xabi Alonso used the moment to embrace the winger in front of the Stamford Bridge crowd a public show of support after acknowledging that Estevão was unhappy with his lack of minutes.

The gesture appeared designed to underline the manager’s confidence in the young attacker and reassure supporters that the pair remain on good terms.

Estevão’s performance gives Alonso plenty to consider ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Sunderland.

The manager faces several selection decisions across the team, but after such an impressive display, leaving the Brazilian out of the starting lineup will be much harder to justify.
