According to a report by OwnGoalNigeria on Friday, October 23, 2026, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has recalled two midfielders to Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Tanzania.
The duo missed the team’s opening matches of the qualifying campaign.
According to the report, head coach Eric Chelle has submitted his list of invited players for the two-legged qualifying fixtures scheduled for November.
Dele-Bashiru, who plays for Italian Serie A side Lazio, and Nnadi, of French Ligue 1 club Marseille, have been recalled as the Super Eagles prepare for their crucial encounters against Tanzania.
Their return will provide the coach with additional midfield options as Nigeria seek to improve their performances in the remaining qualifying matches.
The return of the two midfielders comes at an important moment for Nigeria, who are looking to recover from their disappointing 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau after opening their qualifying campaign with a 2-1 victory over Madagascar.
Chelle is expected to rely on his available options to strengthen the team’s midfield and improve Nigeria’s chances of securing maximum points from the upcoming fixtures.
Tanzania, one of the co-hosts of the 2027 AFCON, have already secured qualification for the tournament, leaving Nigeria, Madagascar, and Guinea-Bissau to battle for the remaining qualifying spot in Group L.
Meanwhile, Alhassan Yusuf of New England Revolution has been left out of the squad as he continues to recover from the injury that ruled him out of Nigeria’s previous round of qualifying matches.
The Super Eagles will face Tanzania in back-to-back fixtures in November as they seek to get their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign back on track.
