Rogers, Jacquet, Konsa: Who Has Been The Best Summer Signing In The Premier League

According to a report by The Athletic on Monday, November 2, 2026, Arsenal defender Ezri Konsa has emerged as one of the leading candidates for the Premier League’s signing of the season following his impressive performances since joining Mikel Arteta’s side.

The England international has quickly adapted to life at the Emirates Stadium after completing a £55 million move from Aston Villa during the summer transfer window. His arrival was part of a record spending period in which Premier League clubs reportedly spent £3.5 billion to strengthen their squads ahead of the new campaign.

Konsa has established himself as a reliable partner for Gabriel in central defence, helping Arsenal maintain their strong defensive record. The 28-year-old has kept six clean sheets in 10 starts, with some of his best performances coming in the 1-0 away victories against Sunderland and Liverpool.

Arsenal have conceded only five goals in their opening nine league matches, making them the team with the strongest defensive record during that period. Konsa’s contribution has been important to that achievement, particularly through his consistency and ability to work alongside Gabriel.

His performances have also created a selection decision for Arteta, especially with William Saliba expected to return from a back injury later in November. The manager will have to consider how best to organise his defence while maintaining the stability the team has enjoyed.

However, Konsa is not the only summer signing attracting attention. Chelsea forward Morgan Rogers has also made a strong impression after joining the London club from Aston Villa in a £117 million transfer. The 24-year-old has scored five Premier League goals and provided one assist, while developing an effective partnership with Cole Palmer.

Liverpool defender Jeremy Jacquet has equally impressed since arriving from Rennes. At 21, he has shown confidence in possession and composure when playing alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Manchester City’s Elliot Anderson is another player receiving recognition following his £116 million move from Nottingham Forest. He has brought energy and control to the midfield as the club adjusts to life without Rodri.

Other players mentioned include Brighton defender Luka Vuskovic, Bournemouth’s Antonio Silva, Brentford midfielder Mamadou Sangare, Tottenham’s Sandro Tonali, Aston Villa goalkeeper Zion Suzuki and Johan Manzambi.

Although the season is still at an early stage, several new arrivals have already made important contributions to their teams. Konsa’s defensive performances have placed him among the leading contenders, but the race for the Premier League’s signing of the season remains open.
