How 30-year-old footballer died while playing for his club

Spanish footballer Jesús de Miguel Alameda has tragically passed away at the age of 30 after suffering a serious collision during CD Tenerife's match against FC Andorra in the Spanish second division.

According to a post on CD Tenerife's official X account on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the striker died following complications from the incident, which occurred during the closing stages of Monday's encounter.

The unfortunate incident happened on November 2 at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López, where Tenerife were hosting Andorra in a LaLiga Hypermotion fixture.

De Miguel was involved in a collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono while challenging for the ball. Owono had rushed out of his penalty area to deal with a long pass when his knee accidentally struck the Tenerife forward in the chest, leaving him motionless on the pitch.

Players from both sides immediately appealed for medical assistance as medical staff rushed onto the field to attend to the injured striker.

De Miguel received emergency treatment on the pitch for several minutes before being transported to hospital by ambulance.

The incident eventually forced the referee to abandon the match in the 108th minute, with both teams level at 2-2. Owono was also sent off after receiving a straight red card for the collision.

Reports indicated that De Miguel suffered a cardiac arrest following the incident and was rushed to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.

CD Tenerife initially announced that the forward was in a serious but stable condition. However, his health reportedly worsened as he developed further neurological complications.

Despite the medical team's efforts to save him, the 30-year-old eventually passed away at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

CD Tenerife later confirmed the heartbreaking news through an official statement, expressing their deep sorrow over the death of their player.

The club released an emotional message, saying:

“Racked with pain, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe that this is true, from CD Tenerife we communicate the tragic passing, this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., of Jesús de Miguel Alameda.”

The Spanish club also extended its condolences to the player's family, friends, teammates and supporters, while his relatives appealed for privacy as they come to terms with the devastating loss.

De Miguel joined CD Tenerife from CD Castellón ahead of the 2025/26 campaign and quickly became an important attacking option for the team.

The striker finished the previous season with 11 goals, establishing himself as a valuable member of the squad.

His sudden death has left the Spanish football community in mourning, with several clubs and football authorities expected to join CD Tenerife in paying tribute to the late forward and offering support to his family and teammates.
