According to a report by Madrid Universal on Wednesday November 4, 2026, Real Madrid duo Brahim Diaz and Yan Diomande have been nominated for the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards following their impressive performances for club and country.
Brahim has been shortlisted for the Men's Player of the Year award, while Diomande has received a nomination for the Young Player of the Year prize.
According to Madrid Universal, the two players earned their nominations after productive campaigns during the 2025/26 season and impressive displays for their respective national teams.
Brahim enjoyed a successful year with Real Madrid and Morocco despite not always being a regular starter for the Spanish giants.
The 27-year-old attacking midfielder finished the 2025/26 campaign with two goals and nine assists for Real Madrid.
However, his performances for Morocco at international level further strengthened his chances of receiving individual recognition.
Brahim scored five goals during the Africa Cup of Nations, helping Morocco win the tournament. He also provided four assists as the North African country reached the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Real Madrid star will face competition from several established African footballers for the prestigious award.
Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi, Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo, Manchester United winger Amad Diallo and Al-Nassr attacker Sadio Mane are among the other nominees.
Meanwhile, Diomande has been recognised for his impressive development and breakthrough performances in European football.
The 19-year-old winger enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 season with RB Leipzig, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists in 36 appearances.
His performances attracted interest from several European clubs before Real Madrid secured his signature during the summer transfer window.
Diomande has also made an encouraging start to life at the Santiago Bernabeu, recording four goals and four assists in 14 appearances for the Spanish club this season.
At international level, the youngster represented Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations, making five appearances and scoring once.
He also featured four times for his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he registered an assist.
Diomande will compete against several other promising African youngsters for the CAF Young Player of the Year award.
Barcelona's Hamza Abdelkarim, Manchester City's Ayyoub Bouaddi and Bayer Leverkusen's Ibrahim Maza are among the players nominated in the category.
The nominations represent another recognition of the growing influence of African footballers at Real Madrid, with both Brahim and Diomande enjoying important moments for club and country.
However, the two players will have to wait for the final CAF Awards decision to discover whether they can turn their nominations into individual honours.
