FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup: Two teams qualify for Round of 16 stage

According to a report by Daily Post on Wednesday October 21, 2026, Germany and North Korea have become the first two teams to qualify for the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

Both countries secured their places in the knockout stage following impressive victories in Tuesday's group matches.

Germany defeated tournament hosts Morocco 4-2 to record their second consecutive win and move to six points from two matches. The result leaves them at the top of Group A.

North Korea also confirmed their qualification after thrashing Poland 6-1. The victory took their points tally to six, ensuring they remain top of Group B.

Meanwhile, Nigeria's Flamingos kept their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive with a 2-0 victory over Puerto Rico.

Nigeria had lost their opening match against Poland, making the win over Puerto Rico crucial to their qualification ambitions. The team will now look to finish their remaining group fixture strongly to improve their chances of progressing.

Argentina also boosted their hopes after defeating New Zealand 2-0. Like Nigeria, they will be aiming to secure the result needed to advance to the next stage.

More group matches are scheduled to take place as the tournament continues, with several teams still fighting to secure their places in the Round of 16.

Germany and North Korea have made the strongest starts so far among the confirmed qualifiers, while Nigeria will hope to join them as the Flamingos continue their campaign.
