According to a report by FootballTransfers on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Arsenal are among the clubs that may be looking back at their decision not to sign Yan Diomande after the young forward made an impressive start to his career at Real Madrid.
The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international joined Real Madrid from RB Leipzig during the summer transfer window in a deal worth €125 million, around £104 million. Arsenal had reportedly considered signing him before he completed the move to Spain, but the Spanish giants eventually secured his services.
Diomande has quickly shown why Real Madrid were willing to spend such a huge amount on him. He has recorded seven goal contributions in his last eight appearances, scoring four goals and providing three assists. His performances have made him an important attacking option at the Santiago Bernabeu, particularly during the absence of Vinicius Junior, who has been serving a lengthy domestic suspension.
The teenager has taken advantage of the opportunity by finding the net against Villarreal, Sevilla, RB Leipzig and Racing Santander. His ability to create chances and take on defenders has also attracted attention.
Diario AS journalist Carlos Forjanes believes Diomande is already producing performances that justify the amount Real Madrid paid for him. He noted that the forward had been directly involved in seven goals through his scoring and assists.
Forjanes also compared his dribbling numbers with those of Kylian Mbappe. According to the journalist, Diomande has completed 34 successful dribbles, just five fewer than Mbappe’s 39, despite the French forward spending 512 more minutes on the pitch.
Arsenal were among several clubs looking to strengthen their attack during the summer. Mikel Arteta’s side reportedly considered moves for Diomande, Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, Vinicius Junior and Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz. However, they did not complete deals for those high-profile targets.
Despite missing out on several attacking options, Arsenal have enjoyed a strong start to the campaign, winning 12 of their 15 matches across all competitions. Their recent victory over Liverpool at Anfield also marked their first win at the ground since 2012.
Arteta’s side are now preparing for their Champions League meeting with Slavia Prague, while Diomande will be looking to maintain his impressive form when Real Madrid face AEK Athens.
His early performances in Spain have placed him among the young attackers attracting attention this season.
