Manchester United supporters reportedly left Stamford Bridge before the final whistle following their team's 2-0 defeat to Chelsea, according to a report by The Sun on October 31, 2026. Interestingly, the result has added to the club's disappointing run of performances. It has also increased the pressure on manager Michael Carrick.
Chelsea took control of the encounter five minutes into the second half when Morgan Rogers opened the scoring after an impressive individual run. The forward lifted the ball over Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens following defensive errors from Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martínez.
United's afternoon became more difficult when Martínez received was sent off 13 minutes after Rogers' opener. His was red carded after getting a yellow for a reckless challenge on Wesley Fofana.
The dismissal was accompanied by a penalty for Chelsea. Interestingly, Cole Palmer converted to double the hosts' advantage. The Blues subsequently added a third goal to complete a convincing victory over their visitors.
Meanwhile, Manchester United had an opportunity to take the lead in the first half when Matheus Cunha found the net with a header. However, the goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR review.
It should be noted that the defeat came amid an increasingly difficult period for the Red Devils, who have struggled to produce consistent performances under Carrick. The latest setback has further intensified scrutiny of Carrick's position, with the club's poor start to the campaign raising concerns among supporters.
The early departure of some travelling fans from Stamford Bridge also reflected the growing frustration among sections of the Manchester U
nited fanbase.
