According to a report by Madrid Universal on Saturday October 23, 2026, Real Madrid summer signing Yan Diomande is making an impressive impression following his arrival from RB Leipzig, with his outstanding dribbling statistics raising questions about Vinicius Junior’s current performances under Jose Mourinho.

According to reports, the Ivory Coast winger has completed 47 successful dribbles in 565 minutes this season, surpassing Vinicius, who has registered 38 successful attempts across 800 minutes.

The statistics become even more impressive when their individual success rates are considered, highlighting the youngster’s effectiveness when taking on opposing defenders during matches.

Diomande boasts a 66 per cent dribbling success rate, significantly higher than Vinicius’ 42 per cent, demonstrating his ability to combine attacking ambition with greater efficiency in one-on-one situations.

Despite playing 235 fewer minutes, the summer recruit has completed nine more successful dribbles than his Brazilian teammate, underlining his growing influence in Real Madrid’s attacking department.

Their numbers per 90 minutes further highlight the difference, with Diomande averaging approximately 7.5 successful dribbles compared to Vinicius’ 4.3, according to the reported statistics.

The youngster’s confidence, acceleration and willingness to challenge defenders have made him an exciting attacking option, offering Madrid another way to penetrate defensive lines and create goalscoring opportunities.

For Mourinho, Diomande’s performances could present an interesting selection dilemma, particularly as Real Madrid prepare for important fixtures where individual brilliance and attacking creativity may prove decisive.

With Vinicius unavailable for the upcoming El Clasico, Diomande has an opportunity to demonstrate his quality against Barcelona and strengthen his case for a more prominent role.

Nevertheless, Vinicius possesses considerable experience at the highest level, having delivered important performances for Real Madrid in domestic competitions and European football throughout previous seasons.

Although the Brazilian is experiencing a difficult period, his proven quality means Mourinho may remain reluctant to reduce his importance within the squad permanently.

Diomande’s impressive statistics have certainly intensified competition, but maintaining consistency throughout the campaign will determine whether he can genuinely challenge Vinicius for a regular starting position at Real Madrid.
