Back
According to a report from FootballTransfers, on Sunday November 08, 2026, Manchester United could have an opportunity to sign RB Leipzig left-back David Raum for a reduced fee in January, according to German reports.
United considered the 28-year-old last summer while searching for a left-back, but no deal followed. Raum had acknowledged receiving interest from other clubs, yet chose to remain at Leipzig. At the time, negotiations over a new contract had not begun, although he expected the club to offer him an extension.
Those talks started only recently and have reportedly been positive. However, with Raum’s current deal set to expire in 2027, Leipzig may have to consider selling him rather than risk losing him for less later.
BILD reports that a winter transfer is possible and suggests a fee in the low tens of millions of euros could be enough. That would be well below his reported €40 million release clause.
Raum’s recent form may be influencing Leipzig’s position. The club have endured an unsettled season, with changes in the coaching and sporting departments, while the defender’s performances have drawn criticism. His absence from Germany’s latest squad has also added to the scrutiny.
For United, Raum could address an ongoing need at left-back, though his form makes the move a calculated risk. Juventus are also reportedly interested, and Bologna have sent a scout to watch him. Raum is said to favour a move to England and dreams of playing for a leading Premier League club.
