Chelsea defender Malo Gusto is attracting interest from five clubs ahead of the January transfer window, with Liverpool, Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich reportedly following his situation.
According to a report by Football London on Thursday, October 22, 2026, the French international could leave Stamford Bridge after struggling to get regular playing time amid increased competition for places.
The arrival of Marco Palestra, Pedro Neto’s performances at wing-back and Josh Acheampong’s progress have added to the competition facing Gusto at Chelsea.
Chelsea reportedly placed a £67 million valuation on the defender during the summer. However, the club could reduce its demands in a future transfer window to make a possible sale easier.
Liverpool could be interested in strengthening their right-back position following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid. Tottenham are also monitoring Gusto, despite having Pedro Porro in their squad.
Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich are the other clubs reportedly keeping track of the defender’s situation.
Gusto has made 141 appearances for Chelsea in three years and earned 16 caps for France. His current contract with the London club runs until 2030.
Chelsea’s potential earnings from a sale could also influence their decision. The club signed Gusto for around £26.3 million, meaning a transfer could bring in a significant profit.
Under the accounting arrangements for his original transfer, Chelsea’s investment in the player is spread over seven and a half years.
A January sale for £67 million could reportedly deliver about £55 million in profit. Even if Chelsea accept £50 million, the club would still make a substantial gain.
Waiting until next summer could increase that figure, with the potential profit estimated at £56.5 million if Chelsea receive their original £67 million asking price.
Chelsea have yet to make their position clear, but money from a possible sale could help fund another signing. Alex Scott has reportedly emerged as one of the club’s potential targets.
Gusto’s future will depend on Chelsea’s plans, his chances of getting regular football and whether any interested club is willing to meet their financial demands.
