Barcelona summer signing’s impressive record vs Real Madrid offers club an advantage

According to a report by Barca Universal on Thursday October 22, 2026, Barcelona could have an additional attacking weapon against Real Madrid on Sunday, with summer signing Gabriel Jesus boasting an impressive record against Los Blancos from his time at Manchester City.

The Brazilian forward has faced Madrid four times in the Champions League, recording three victories and one defeat. More importantly, he contributed three goals and one assist across those encounters, demonstrating his ability to trouble one of Europe’s most successful clubs.

Jesus first made his mark against Madrid in February 2020, scoring in Manchester City’s 2-1 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu. He also played a crucial role in the return leg, dispossessing Raphael Varane to help create Raheem Sterling’s opener before scoring the winning goal.

The 29-year-old found the net again when City defeated Madrid 4-3 in the first leg of their 2021-22 Champions League semi-final. Although Madrid eventually produced a remarkable comeback to reach the final, Jesus had once again shown that he could make a difference against them.

His previous success could provide a confidence boost ahead of the upcoming Clasico, especially as Barcelona look to take advantage of their attacking options under Hansi Flick.

Jesus has reportedly made an encouraging start to life at Barcelona, scoring four goals in 234 minutes across seven appearances. Those numbers suggest that he can offer a significant threat despite potentially having a limited amount of playing time.

Beyond his goalscoring ability, the Brazilian brings energy, intelligent movement and an aggressive pressing style. These qualities could become particularly valuable if Flick decides to introduce him from the bench, especially if Real Madrid begin to tire during the second half.

Barcelona already possess several dangerous attacking players, but Jesus could give them another dimension in the final third. His ability to move into wider positions and exploit defensive gaps may create opportunities for both himself and his teammates.

However, his previous record against Madrid does not guarantee another impressive performance. The circumstances are different from his Manchester City days, and his impact will depend on the role Flick gives him and the chances Barcelona create.
