Chelsea endured a frustrating afternoon at Stamford Bridge after losing 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League clash on Saturday, with two late goals condemning them to defeat.
According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, October 24, 2026, the Blues struggled to make their opportunities count before Mike Penders’ own goal gave Tottenham the advantage in the 77th minute. Mathys Tel then sealed the victory with an impressive long-range strike ten minutes later.
Several Chelsea players failed to perform at their expected level, with four individuals particularly disappointing.
1. Mike Penders
Penders had a difficult outing between the posts for Chelsea. The goalkeeper produced a reasonable save to keep out Omar Marmoush’s attempt in the 29th minute, but his costly mistake later changed the direction of the match.
In the 77th minute, he inadvertently directed a corner into his own net, allowing Tottenham to take the lead. Chelsea were unable to recover, and Tel’s late effort made the defeat even more disappointing for the goalkeeper.
2. Morgan Rogers
Rogers failed to make a meaningful impact in Chelsea’s attack. He had a promising opportunity in the 33rd minute but took too long to release his shot inside the penalty area, giving a Tottenham defender enough time to intervene.
Four minutes later, he was caught offside during another attacking move, bringing the opportunity to an end. His lack of sharpness in the final third meant Chelsea missed out on another potential source of danger.
3. Cole Palmer
Palmer was unable to provide the attacking influence Chelsea needed against their London rivals. He tested Antonin Kinsky with an effort in the 14th minute, but the Tottenham goalkeeper dealt with it comfortably.
The midfielder also helped create an early opportunity for Pedro Neto, although a defender managed to stop the attack. His afternoon ended on a disappointing note when he received a second yellow card in the 80th minute, leaving Chelsea with ten players during the closing stages.
4. Pedro Neto
Neto missed an important opportunity to put Chelsea ahead before the interval. In the 44th minute, he collected the ball from a set-piece situation and aimed towards the bottom-left corner, but Kinsky made a crucial save.
The winger later saw another attempt blocked, while Tottenham also dealt with one of his corner deliveries. He received a yellow card in the 79th minute before being forced off through injury in the 88th minute.
His inability to convert his chances was another setback for Chelsea as they struggled to find a breakthrough against Tottenham.
