According to a report by the London Evening Standard on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Arsenal defender Katie Reid has suffered another injury setback and is now expected to remain unavailable until after Christmas.
The 20-year-old sustained an ankle injury shortly after returning to team training following an extended absence caused by an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. The latest problem has interrupted her recovery and delayed her anticipated return to competitive action.
Reid had been making encouraging progress after spending approximately a year away from football. Her return to training represented an important step in her rehabilitation, but the ankle injury has forced Arsenal to reassess her recovery timeline.
Arsenal Women manager Renée Slegers confirmed the development during her pre-match press conference ahead of the team's meeting with Aston Villa. She explained that Reid had rejoined the squad in training before experiencing the latest setback.
Slegers indicated that the young defender was unlikely to return before Christmas. The manager also expressed disappointment over the situation, describing the development as an unfortunate setback for a player who had worked hard to recover from her previous injury.
Meanwhile, Arsenal received more encouraging updates concerning other members of the squad. Kim Little returned to action during the club's Champions League fixture, while Frida Maanum could also be available for the upcoming match.
Goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar is making progress towards a return, although Slegers suggested that the Aston Villa fixture might come too soon for her.
Chloe Kelly, however, remains unavailable as she continues recovering from a hamstring problem that has affected her since late September. The manager revealed that the forward recently attended a specialist appointment but did not provide a specific date for her return.
Kelly's condition will continue to be assessed daily as the club monitors her symptoms and rehabilitation progress.
For Reid, the latest injury represents a frustrating interruption after a lengthy period of rehabilitation. Arsenal are expected to manage her recovery carefully before considering another return to full training, with Christmas currently representing the earliest anticipated timeframe for her comeback.
