According to a report by London Evening Standard on Thursday October 22, 2026, Bruno Guimaraes revealed that he had already started celebrating before Manuel Neuer produced an outstanding save to deny his header during Arsenal's 2-2 Champions League draw against Bayern Munich.
The midfielder praised the German goalkeeper after the match, admitting that he could hardly believe how Neuer prevented him from scoring at the Allianz Arena.
Speaking after the final whistle, Guimaraes described the save as remarkable and revealed that he approached Neuer to ask how he had managed to stop his effort. The Brazilian also acknowledged the goalkeeper's legendary status in football.
"Unbelievable save. I was already celebrating. When the game finished I came to him and said: how did you save that?" Guimaraes said.
The incident was one of the significant moments in an entertaining encounter between the two European sides. Arsenal initially took the lead through Eberechi Eze before Bayern responded to level the score. Harry Kane subsequently converted a second-half penalty to put the German champions ahead.
However, Arsenal demonstrated their determination by finding a late equaliser through Declan Rice in the 82nd minute. His strike ensured that the visitors secured a valuable point after a competitive battle in Munich.
Neuer's contribution proved important for Bayern throughout the match. The experienced goalkeeper denied Guimaraes with an impressive reaction to his second-half header, preventing Arsenal from gaining another advantage. David Raya also produced important saves for the visitors, including an intervention against Dayot Upamecano's header.
Guimaraes joined Arsenal from Newcastle United during the summer in a £75 million transfer. The midfielder has already made an impact at his new club by scoring twice in the Premier League, including a late winner on his home debut against Leeds United.
His performance against Bayern provided another glimpse of his attacking quality. Arsenal remain unbeaten in the Champions League league phase after three matches, with their draw in Munich keeping their European campaign on track. Guimaraes' reaction to Neuer's save highlighted just how close Arsenal came to scoring another crucial goal.
