UCL Table After Manchester United Lost 4-1

According to a report by BBC Sport on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Manchester United suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat against Como in the UEFA Champions League, with Nico Paz delivering an outstanding performance to inspire the Italian club to victory over Michael Carrick's side.

Paz scored twice during the encounter, while Anastasios Douvikas and Jacobo Ramon also found the net as Como took advantage of Manchester United's defensive weaknesses to secure an impressive result on home soil.

Como made an immediate impact when Paz opened the scoring just two minutes after kickoff. The midfielder received a pass from Lucas Da Cunha before unleashing a powerful effort from outside the penalty area into the top-left corner, leaving United goalkeeper Senne Lammens with little chance of stopping it.

Manchester United attempted to respond through Diogo Dalot, who missed a promising opportunity, while Harry Maguire came close with a header that narrowly missed the target. Lammens also produced an important save to deny Martin Baturina and prevent Como from extending their early advantage.

Despite enjoying periods of possession, United struggled to create clear scoring opportunities. Their difficulties continued after the break when Como doubled their lead in the 49th minute. Paz delivered an accurate through ball to Douvikas, who calmly finished into the right side of the goal.

The visitors' situation deteriorated further eight minutes later when Paz scored his second goal. The midfielder took advantage of a defensive error and finished from close range, leaving Manchester United with a significant deficit to overcome.

Carrick attempted to change the game's direction by introducing Amad Diallo and Carlos Baleba at half-time. However, the changes failed to improve United's defensive stability or prevent Como from continuing their attacking pressure.

Como scored their fourth goal in the 76th minute when Ramon rose above the Manchester United defence to head home an excellent cross from Kaiki. The goal underlined the hosts' clinical finishing and the visitors' inability to deal effectively with crosses into the penalty area.

Manchester United continued searching for a consolation goal, with Amad testing Como goalkeeper Jean Butez and Bryan Mbeumo narrowly missing from outside the box.

Their persistence eventually produced a goal during stoppage time. Amad delivered a cross into the penalty area, allowing substitute Joshua Zirkzee to finish into the middle of the net. Video Assistant Referee checks for a possible offside delayed the confirmation before the goal was allowed to stand.

However, the late strike did little to change the outcome. Como secured a convincing 4-1 victory, while Manchester United were left facing renewed questions about their defensive organisation and ability to compete consistently in Europe.
