According to a report by Barca Blaugranes on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Portuguese forward Joao Félix is reportedly interested in returning to Barcelona as he considers leaving Saudi Arabian football for another opportunity in Europe.
The 26-year-old attacker has identified the Catalan club as his preferred destination while assessing his future at Al Nassr. Félix previously represented Barcelona during the 2023–24 season on loan and is believed to be keen on rejoining the Spanish giants after his experience in Saudi Arabia.
Félix remains contracted to Al Nassr until 2027, with an option to extend the agreement for an additional year. However, his representative, Jorge Mendes, has reportedly arranged discussions with the Saudi club to examine the player's contractual position and determine whether a future move to Europe can be facilitated.
The reported strategy involves declining the additional year in his contract and exploring opportunities to leave once his current agreement expires. Barcelona is said to be his preferred option, although there has been no confirmation that the club has opened negotiations over a possible return.
Despite his reported desire to return to European football, Félix has enjoyed a successful spell in Saudi Arabia. The report claims that he was named Saudi Pro League Player of the Season for 2025–26 and helped Al Nassr secure their first league championship in seven years. He has also continued to feature prominently in discussions surrounding Portugal's national team.
Nevertheless, the forward is reportedly considering a fresh challenge that would allow him to compete again in European competitions. Returning to Barcelona could provide an opportunity to rebuild his relationship with the club and establish himself in a familiar environment.
Mendes could become an important figure in any potential transfer because of his established relationship with Barcelona president Joan Laporta. That connection might help facilitate discussions if the club decides to consider bringing Félix back to Camp Nou.
However, Barcelona's willingness to pursue the transfer remains unclear. The club already has several attacking options and would need to determine whether Félix fits its tactical requirements and financial plans before making a commitment.
Juventus has also emerged as a possible alternative for the Portuguese international if he decides to return to Europe. The Italian side could provide another opportunity should Barcelona decline to pursue a reunion.
For now, Félix's next move remains uncertain. His reported preference for Barcelona has fuelled transfer speculation, but any deal will depend on his contractual situation at Al Nassr and the Catalan club's willingness to negotiate.
