According to a report by Football London on Sunday, 1 November 2026, Morgan Rogers has revealed how Joao Pedro's advice helped him score during Chelsea's 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The England international credited his Brazilian team-mate for encouraging him to chip goalkeepers more frequently during training.
Rogers scored Chelsea's opening goal shortly after half-time with an impressive solo effort. The £117million summer signing drove past Manchester United's defenders before delicately lifting the ball over goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
Cole Palmer subsequently doubled Chelsea's advantage from the penalty spot after Lisandro Martinez received a second yellow card for a foul.
Speaking after the match, Rogers discussed his goal with former Chelsea striker Tore Andre Flo, who praised his composure and choice of finish.
The 24-year-old revealed that Pedro had repeatedly encouraged him to attempt similar finishes during training sessions.
The Brazilian striker has developed a reputation for his ability to chip goalkeepers, and his advice appears to have influenced Rogers' decision against United.
Pedro missed the encounter because of a thigh injury but has been an important figure in Chelsea's attack this season. He has registered five goals and three assists in six Premier League appearances.
His absence meant Xabi Alonso had to find alternative attacking solutions, with Pedro Neto operating in a different role alongside Rogers, Palmer and Estevao Willian.
Alonso was pleased with how his players adapted, particularly after the break, when Chelsea improved their attacking intensity and took control of the contest.
The victory represented an important response following defeats against Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
Rogers' latest contribution also underlined his growing importance to Alonso's side, with the summer signing now having six goals in 12 appearances for Chelsea.
Pedro's influence, meanwhile, highlights the value of the understanding developing between Chelsea's attacking players, even when some members of the squad are unavailable.
