Former Arsenal Star Jorginho Could Face Global Football Ban Following Reported Positive Doping Test

According to a report by Football London on Saturday October 24, 2026, Former Arsenal midfielder Jorginho could face a worldwide football suspension following reports of an adverse anti-doping test result, with a counter-analysis scheduled for October 27 to establish whether the initial finding is confirmed.

The 34-year-old currently plays for Brazilian club Flamengo, whom he joined in the summer of 2025 after leaving European football. Reports from Brazilian media have raised questions about a possible positive result from testing conducted by CONMEBOL.

However, the situation remains unresolved, as no official confirmation of an anti-doping violation has been announced. The upcoming counter-analysis is expected to play a crucial role in determining whether the initial result indicates a breach of regulations.

Flamengo have reportedly said they have not received formal notification concerning an alleged doping issue involving the midfielder. Jorginho recently featured in the club’s Copa Libertadores semi-final against Estudiantes, where Flamengo were eliminated from the competition.

The midfielder also attracted attention after missing a penalty during the match, adding to Flamengo’s disappointment following their continental campaign setback.

According to TyC Sports, Jorginho is at the centre of reports surrounding the alleged positive test. Brazilian journalist Thiago Asmar has also indicated that the counter-analysis is scheduled to take place on October 27.

If the initial finding is confirmed and an anti-doping violation is established, the former Arsenal player could reportedly face a suspension ranging from six months to two years. The eventual punishment would depend on the substance involved and the circumstances of the case.

Such a sanction could significantly affect Flamengo’s plans and create another challenge for manager Leonardo Jardim as the Brazilian side attempts to recover from its disappointing Libertadores exit.

The uncertainty could also influence the club’s preparations for upcoming fixtures, particularly if Jorginho becomes unavailable for a prolonged period.

Jorginho previously played for Arsenal before continuing his career abroad and eventually joining Flamengo. Consequently, the reports have attracted attention from supporters interested in his future and the possible consequences of the investigation.

For now, no violation or suspension has been officially confirmed. Flamengo are reportedly awaiting further information, and the midfielder should not be considered guilty based solely on unconfirmed reports.

The scheduled counter-analysis is expected to provide greater clarity. Until the results are available and the relevant authorities determine the facts, any potential punishment remains uncertain.
