According to a report by The Daily Post on Saturday, October 24, 2026, up to 11 players could miss Saturday's Premier League meeting between Chelsea and Tottenham, with both London clubs dealing with heavy absentee lists ahead of the late kick-off at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea will be without new first-choice goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who had surgery this week on a fractured jaw. The Argentine was hurt during the Blues' 2-0 win over Everton last weekend.
He will join captain Reece James on the sidelines. The defender has also undergone an operation on his knee. Winger Jamie Gittens misses out as well, as he is still recovering from an ankle problem.
Head coach Xabi Alonso has confirmed that Pep Chavarria will not be available to face Spurs. Emmanuel Emegha is also a doubt after suffering a minor setback upon his return to training.
Tottenham's list is no shorter. Mykhailo Mudryk, Lucas Bergvall and Savio are all set to miss the trip to Stamford Bridge. They will be joined by long-term absentees Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert.
Spurs are also without Rodrigo Bentancur, who remains suspended after his red card in the game against Manchester United. Destiny Udogie is unavailable too.
With so many key names missing, both managers will have to rely on their depth, and the thinning of both squads could make for an unpredictable contest in west London.
Chelsea come into the fixture on the back of the Everton victory, but the loss of a goalkeeper and a captain in the same week is a real test for Alonso's side.
Tottenham, meanwhile, will hope their remaining players can cope with the demands of travelling across the capital to face a depleted but confident home team. Kick-off is later today at Stamford Bridge.
