According to a report by The Sun on Sunday, November 1, 2026, during a ferocious incident at Anfield, Alexis Mac Allister started a brawl between Liverpool and Arsenal players when he yelled at Martin Odegaard and then went down.
As the home team sought an equalizer in their 1-0 Premier League loss to Arsenal, the Argentine international became embroiled in a confrontation.
Odegaard, the captain for Arsenal, went down after being fouled by Mac Allister, and the incident started from there. Nevertheless, the midfielder from Liverpool reached down and yelled at the Norwegian as he lay on the ground.
Jurrien Timber, a defender for Arsenal, was enraged when Mac Allister tapped Odegaard on the back of the head before leaving. Players from both teams took notice of Timber as he pursued the Argentine midfielder and confronted him about his behavior.
Noni Madueke, a winger for Arsenal, was one of several who got involved, charging over to Mac Allister and bumping heads with the Liverpool midfielder.
Although there seemed to be little contact, Mac Allister's dramatic fall to the ground while clutching his face drew additional reactions from the players.
The situation made Madueke smile awkwardly, and Declan Rice, a midfielder for Arsenal, leaned over to talk to the Liverpool player.
As a number of players converged on the scene of the crime, referee Andy Madley stepped in to try to calm things down.
To decide whether Madueke's head contact with Mac Allister constituted violent conduct, officials from the video assistant referee examined his involvement.
The incident did not warrant a red card, according to VAR, since the contact was not deemed severe enough.
For their roles in the altercation, Mac Allister and Timber were both given yellow cards. Madueke, who was already on the bench prior to the incident, avoided receiving a second yellow card and was subsequently permitted to resume play.
As a result of the altercation, Liverpool were unable to score a late equalizer and were unable to penetrate Arsenal's defense.
With a goal from inside the penalty area, Kai Havertz put the away team ahead in the 16th minute, setting up a goalmouth scramble. The Gunners won their first Premier League match at Anfield since 2012 thanks to a tenacious defensive performance, and they now lead the league by three points.
