According to a report by FootballTransfers on Friday, October 23, 2026, Liverpool are preparing to offer Rio Ngumoha a new long-term contract as they seek to secure the future of the highly rated teenager amid continued interest from Arsenal. The Merseyside club are reportedly unwilling to entertain offers for the young forward and intend to reward his progress with improved financial terms.
Ngumoha joined Liverpool from Chelsea’s academy in 2024 and has steadily developed into one of the club’s promising young attacking talents. His impressive performances have attracted attention, while his development has also earned him his first senior cap for England.
Despite increased competition for places following the arrivals of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain and Victor Munoz from Osasuna during the summer, the youngster remains comfortable at Anfield. Liverpool believe securing his long-term commitment is important as they continue developing their squad for the future.
FootballTransfers, citing the Daily Mail, reported that discussions between Ngumoha’s representatives and Liverpool officials are progressing positively. An agreement over improved terms is increasingly anticipated, although his current contract runs until 2028.
Arsenal were reportedly among the clubs interested in signing the forward during the summer transfer window, and their admiration for his abilities has not disappeared. However, Liverpool are determined to retain his services rather than risk losing another emerging talent to a Premier League rival.
Ngumoha has made 39 senior appearances for Liverpool, contributing five goals and assists. According to FootballTransfers, his estimated transfer value has climbed to €39.2 million, reflecting his growing reputation and potential.
The teenager has also made history in European competition. During Liverpool’s Champions League encounter against Villarreal, he became the club’s youngest player to register an assist in the tournament, further highlighting his development and ability to perform on the biggest stage.
Following Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Brentford, Ngumoha addressed speculation surrounding his contract, explaining that his representatives were handling the negotiations.
“It's all with my agent now. I think it is all going well. I am not too sure.
He added: “I just let the football do the talking, I enjoy playing and all of that is in the back of my mind. I just play for Liverpool, and hopefully I can carry on doing well.”
Reflecting on his Champions League achievement, the youngster said: “It’s the biggest club in the world and for me to get that record is something special, so I’ll take it all day!”
