According to a report by Madrid Universal on Saturday, October 24, 2026, the Turkey international has improved his attacking influence this season after being used in different positions, including right-winger and a deeper midfield role.
Cadena SER reports that Guler averages 5.26 passes leading to shots per match, the highest figure across Europe.
His numbers have also improved in set-piece situations and dribbling since Mourinho took charge. Under former manager Xabi Alonso, the midfielder created an average of 0.83 chances from set pieces per game. That figure has increased to 2.54 under Mourinho, more than three times his previous average.
Guler has also become more effective when taking on opponents. His completed dribbles per match have risen from 1.05 under Alonso to 1.75 under the current manager.
The figures show that the 21-year-old is contributing more than just accurate passing. He is also carrying the ball forward and creating dangerous situations through set pieces.
His progress could help Madrid improve their creativity in midfield, particularly against teams that defend with many players behind the ball. His improved delivery from corners and free kicks could also give the club an advantage in tight matches.
Madrid have several players who could benefit from his set-piece deliveries, including Dean Huijsen, Ibrahima Konate, Antonio Rudiger and Carlos Espi, all of whom are listed as aerial threats.
With the Clasico against Barcelona approaching, Guler's ability to control possession and create chances could be important against their attacking lineup.
Madrid need midfielders who can keep the ball moving and make things happen in the final third. Guler's recent performances suggest he is developing into such a player, although the upcoming match against Barcelona will provide another test of his progress under Mourinho.
