According to a report by BBC Sport on Thursday, October 22, 2026, Juventus were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against Rennes in their UEFA Europa League encounter after surrendering their early advantage before fighting back to claim a point.
The Italian side made a promising start and opened the scoring in the sixth minute. Mehmet Zeki Celik found the net following an assist from Nick Woltemade, giving Juventus an early lead and raising hopes of a comfortable performance in front of their home supporters.
However, Rennes responded nine minutes later when Mousa Tamari equalised in the 15th minute. Bryan Reynolds provided the assist, allowing the French visitors to restore parity and build momentum as the contest became more competitive.
Rennes continued to trouble their hosts and turned the game around shortly before the interval. Boulaye Dia converted a penalty in the 43rd minute to put the visitors ahead, leaving Juventus facing the challenge of overturning their deficit after the break.
Juventus returned for the second half determined to avoid defeat and made changes in an attempt to improve their attacking threat. Their persistence paid off in the 67th minute when Woltemade stepped up to convert a penalty, bringing the score to 2-2.
Both teams pushed for a late winner as the match entered its closing stages, but neither managed to find the decisive goal. Even after nine minutes of added time, the deadlock remained unbroken, with Juventus having to settle for a share of the points on home soil.
The draw will be a frustrating outcome for Juventus, who had hoped to secure all three points, while Rennes can take positives from their performance away from home.
Despite dropping points, Juventus moved up to sixth place in the Europa League standings with seven points. Rennes, meanwhile, occupied 15th position with five points following the encounter.
