Queen Joseph Reacts as Flamingos Become First African Team to Reach U-17 WWC Final

According to a report by Daily Post on Thursday, November 5, 2026, Nigeria forward Queen Joseph has expressed her pride after the Flamingos secured a historic place in the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco.

The Nigerian youngster was among the standout performers as the Flamingos defeated Brazil 3-1 in their semi-final encounter on Wednesday to book their place in Saturday's final in Rabat.

Goals from Joseph and Awawu Bashiru helped Nigeria overcome their South American opponents in an impressive performance that secured the country's place in the tournament's showpiece match.

The victory also represented a major achievement for African football, as the Flamingos became the first team from the continent to reach the final of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

Reacting after the encounter, Joseph expressed satisfaction with the team's performance and described reaching the final as a historic accomplishment for herself and her teammates.

The forward explained that she was extremely proud of the players for achieving the milestone, recognising the importance of their qualification for Nigerian and African football.

Joseph also stressed that the team's responsibility extended beyond representing Nigeria, explaining that the players were carrying the hopes of the entire African continent.

She maintained that their achievement was significant because they had created history by becoming the first African nation to reach the final of the competition.

The Nigerian youngster's comments reflected the importance of the occasion, particularly after the team overcame a difficult beginning to their campaign.

Nigeria started the tournament with a 2-1 defeat against Poland in their opening group match, raising concerns about their prospects of progressing into the latter stages.

However, the Flamingos responded positively to that setback, improving their performances and securing important victories to advance through the competition.

Their impressive 3-1 triumph over Brazil in the semi-finals has now taken them within one victory of becoming world champions.

The Nigerian team will face Japan in the final on Saturday in Rabat, with both countries competing for the opportunity to lift the trophy.
