Arsenal Handed Timely Injury Boost as Star Duo Set to Return for Liverpool Clash

According to a report by London Evening Standard on Tuesday October 27, 2026, Arsenal have received a timely injury boost ahead of their Premier League clash against Liverpool, with Riccardo Calafiori and Christos Tzolis both expected to be available for the trip to Anfield on Sunday.

Their potential returns would give Mikel Arteta more options as the Gunners prepare for a crucial fixture in the title race.

Arsenal remain level with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table after securing a 2-0 victory over Everton. However, injuries continue to create selection challenges for Arteta as he attempts to maintain the team's momentum.

Bukayo Saka remains a major concern after suffering a quadriceps injury against Bayern Munich. Arteta previously explained that the winger could be sidelined for several weeks because swelling had made it difficult to assess the full extent of the problem. Saka is currently expected to return in December, potentially for the home meeting with Manchester United on December 20.

Calafiori's situation appears less serious. The Italian defender missed the starting line-up against Everton after featuring in Arsenal's previous seven Premier League matches. Arteta revealed that the decision was precautionary because the player had reported a minor issue. The defender subsequently came off the bench, and his return for the Liverpool encounter is anticipated.

Tzolis is also approaching a comeback after sustaining a hamstring injury while representing Greece. Arteta confirmed that the attacker would miss several weeks, with the initial recovery period estimated at around three weeks. That timeframe has now passed, leaving him in contention for the upcoming fixtures.

Meanwhile, William Saliba continues to recover from a back injury that has kept him out throughout the season. Arteta said the defender had resumed individual training on the pitch, although another MRI scan would assess his progress. A December return remains the likeliest outcome.

Piero Hincapie has already returned to Arsenal's matchday squad after overcoming an ankle problem. His availability provides another option as the schedule intensifies. With Calafiori and Tzolis nearing fitness, Arsenal could welcome two important players back against Liverpool.
