According to a report by Barca Universal on Saturday November 7, 2026, Barcelona could reportedly consider selling Jules Kounde during the January transfer window, with Chelsea and Bayern Munich keeping tabs on the French defender.
The Catalan club could use the proceeds from his departure to finance other signings as Hansi Flick continues reshaping his squad.
According to reports, Kounde's reduced playing time under Flick has raised doubts about his future at the club. The 27-year-old has managed just 458 minutes across eight appearances in all competitions during the 2026/27 campaign.
His diminished role and Barcelona's plans to strengthen other positions have made his situation increasingly uncertain.
Chelsea are among the clubs monitoring developments surrounding the defender. The Premier League side previously came close to signing him in 2022 before Barcelona secured his services from Sevilla for approximately €60 million.
Bayern Munich are also reportedly considering another approach after following his situation during the summer transfer window. However, neither club has reached an agreement with Barcelona, and any potential move will depend on negotiations and the Spanish club's asking price.
Kounde's departure could provide Barcelona with valuable funds for new additions. Journalist Mateo Moretto previously suggested that his transfer fee could help finance the arrival of a centre-forward or another right-back.
A striker remains one of the club's priorities, while signing another right-back could become necessary if the Frenchman leaves.
However, selling Kounde would also create potential problems for Flick. His ability to operate at centre-back and right-back makes him an important option for the squad.
Barcelona must also consider their existing defensive injury concerns. Kounde suffered an ankle sprain in October, while Eric Garcia sustained a thigh injury. Young defender Xavi Espart also suffered an ankle problem that was expected to keep him sidelined for several weeks.
Consequently, Barcelona will need to assess their defensive options carefully before deciding whether to sanction Kounde's departure in January.
