Nigeria Next Opponent Confirmed After Today's Hard-Fought Win

According to a report by ESPN on Sunday November 1, 2026, Brazil have been confirmed as Nigeria's next opponent at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco following the Flamingos' hard-fought 1-0 victory over Venezuela in the quarter-finals.

Nigeria booked their place in the semi-finals after a tense encounter against Venezuela, with captain Azeezat Oduntan scoring the decisive goal from the penalty spot in the 89th minute. Her late effort proved enough to send the Nigerian youngsters into the last four and keep their hopes of lifting the trophy alive.

The Flamingos will now face Brazil, who secured their semi-final qualification with a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over China.

China initially took the lead through Wu Yichen in the 42nd minute, but Brazil responded immediately after the interval as Helena found the equaliser in the 46th minute. The Brazilian forward then completed her brace in the 88th minute to secure her country's place in the semi-finals.

The meeting with Brazil represents another important test for Nigeria, who have demonstrated determination and resilience throughout the knockout stages. The Flamingos will need another disciplined performance if they want to overcome the South American side and reach the final.

Meanwhile, the other semi-final will feature Japan against defending champions North Korea. Japan defeated Ghana 1-0, while North Korea recorded an impressive 3-0 victory over the United States.

Both semi-final matches are scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

Nigeria will therefore face Brazil with a place in the final at stake, as the Flamingos continue their quest to make history at the tournament.
