According to a report by Barca Universal on Tuesday October 27, 2026, Barcelona captain Raphinha has reportedly liked a social media video questioning the Ballon d’Or voting criteria following Harry Kane’s victory at the 2026 ceremony.
According to reports, the Brazilian winger liked a TikTok video posted by content creator Dani Quintana, who compared Kane’s achievements this season with Raphinha’s performances during Barcelona’s successful 2024/25 campaign.
Kane won the prestigious award after an outstanding season with Bayern Munich, recording 73 goals and eight assists in 65 appearances. The England international also won three domestic trophies and helped Bayern reach the Champions League semi-finals.
However, Quintana questioned the consistency of the award’s criteria by highlighting the similarities between Kane’s achievements and those of Raphinha a year earlier.
Raphinha played a key role as Barcelona won La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup under Hansi Flick. He also helped the Catalan giants reach the Champions League semi-finals, contributing 56 goals and assists combined.
Despite his impressive performances, the Brazilian finished fifth in the 2025 Ballon d’Or rankings, with Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele eventually winning the award.
While Kane’s remarkable goalscoring numbers have strengthened his case for this year’s prize, Raphinha’s position in last year’s rankings continues to attract debate among supporters.
The Barcelona captain has not publicly criticised Kane’s victory, and his reported like does not necessarily mean he agrees with every argument made in the video.
Nevertheless, the comparison has reignited discussions about how individual performances, trophies and overall influence are weighed when deciding the Ballon d’Or winner.
