Bayern Munich on Tuesday gave Harry Kane a guard of honor to welcome him back to the club after the striker claimed the 2026 Ballon d’Or in London.

The German club said that teammates, officials, staff members, and fans applauded Kane and the other Bayern players who had returned from the awards ceremony ahead of their final training session before Wednesday’s DFB Cup tie against 1. FC Magdeburg.

The 33-year-old made his way through a guard of honor formed by club staff as he headed to the training pitch at Säbener Straße, amid loud cheers and chants of “Harry, Harry.”

Bayern called the reception an emotional moment for Kane and for the club’s players.

At Monday’s ceremony in London, Kane was named the world’s best footballer for the 2025/26 season, making him the first Bayern player in 45 years to win the prestigious award since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge’s triumph.

Gerd Müller, Franz Beckenbauer, and Rummenigge had all won the award in the past while playing for the Munich club.

Kane was also presented with the trophy for the best striker of the 2025/26 season.

Speaking at the ceremony, he said, “It’s an honor to play for this club and to bring this trophy back to Munich.”

To mark the achievement, Bayern had lit the Allianz Arena in gold, with Kane’s name shown on the stadium’s façade. The Empire State Building in New York was likewise illuminated in gold in tribute to the striker.

The club said Kane would receive further tributes from supporters before Wednesday’s cup match against Magdeburg and Saturday’s Bundesliga meeting with Borussia Dortmund.

Kane is expected to carry the Ballon d’Or trophy into the stadium and present it to Bayern supporters before the match against Dortmund.
